Genome-Wide Association Studies of Plant Architecture-Related Traits in the Chinese Soybean Mini Core Collection

نویسندگان

چکیده

Plant architecture traits are closely related to plant biomass, lodging, and photosynthetic efficiency, which in turn affect soybean yield. In this study, we investigated a Chinese mini core collection consisting of 224 germplasm accessions for four architecture-related (plant height (PH), number nodes on main stem (NN), branch (BN), diameter (DI)) under three environments conducted genome-wide association study (GWAS) based 1514 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). A total 41 SNPs were found be significantly associated with PH, NN, BN, DI two or more environments. Among these SNPs, 15 located regions QTLs had been reported previous studies, 26 new genetic loci. addition, 18 potential candidate genes obtained by predicting the interval large-effect markers (BARC-017097-02199, Map-2213, BARC-014639-01604, Map-2223). This research will help illuminate basis accelerate process breeding molecular marker-assisted selection soybean.

Characterization of Insect Resistance Loci in the USDA Soybean Germplasm Collection Using Genome-Wide Association Studies

Management of insects that cause economic damage to yields of soybean mainly rely on insecticide applications. Sources of resistance in soybean plant introductions (PIs) to different insect pests have been reported, and some of these sources, like for the soybean aphid (SBA), have been used to develop resistant soybean cultivars. With the availability of SoySNP50K and the statistical power of g...

Genetic variation of maturity groups and four E genes in the Chinese soybean mini core collection

The mini core collection (MCC) has been established by streamlining core collection (CC) chosen from China National Genebank including 23,587 soybean (Glycine max) accessions by morphological traits and simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. Few studies have been focused on the maturity that has been considered as one of the most critical traits for the determination of the adaptation-growing re...

The USDA Barley Core Collection: Genetic Diversity, Population Structure, and Potential for Genome-Wide Association Studies

New sources of genetic diversity must be incorporated into plant breeding programs if they are to continue increasing grain yield and quality, and tolerance to abiotic and biotic stresses. Germplasm collections provide a source of genetic and phenotypic diversity, but characterization of these resources is required to increase their utility for breeding programs. We used a barley SNP iSelect pl...

Genome-Wide Association Study for Traits Related to Plant and Grain Morphology, and Root Architecture in Temperate Rice Accessions

BACKGROUND In this study we carried out a genome-wide association analysis for plant and grain morphology and root architecture in a unique panel of temperate rice accessions adapted to European pedo-climatic conditions. This is the first study to assess the association of selected phenotypic traits to specific genomic regions in the narrow genetic pool of temperate japonica. A set of 391 rice ...

Genome-Wide Association Studies for Comb Traits in Chickens

The comb, as a secondary sexual character, is an important trait in chicken. Indicators of comb length (CL), comb height (CH), and comb weight (CW) are often selected in production. DNA-based marker-assisted selection could help chicken breeders to accelerate genetic improvement for comb or related economic characters by early selection. Although a number of quantitative trait loci (QTL) and ca...
